Pumpkin Carving....and Eating!

The night before last I decided that it was time for us to carve the pumpkins that have been sitting out front for a few weeks.  I was curious how Reed would handle the slimy pumpkin.  Not to my surprise, he wanted no part of it.  He would peek inside the pumpkin, but he really didn't want to touch it.  He preferred playing with the many tools that I had gathered to clean the pumpkin out.  And, even though he wasn't interested in touching it, he thought it might be good to eat.  Too funny!

He had to be thinking.....I'm a little hungry and this will probably work.

Reed's big bite of pumpkin!

Maybe he should have listened to mommy, lol!

And, just a few little licks off the spoon.  He had to be removed from the pumpkin carving premise after he shredded a paper towel into a million pieces.  I actually only got to carve one pumpkin with him and then did the other one after he was in bed, haha!

Apple Crisp!

We picked up some yummy Braeburn apples at the Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge last weekend.  I wanted to make some yummy apple desserts to go along with the fall weather.  The first on my list of things to cook was Kathy's Apple Crisp.  I've made it before, but it was the easiest on my list so I made it quickly one night last week.

Yummy, yummy!

And, it could only get better by adding some ice cream.
Recipe:

Ingredients
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored and slice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter/margarine

1.  Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
2.  Mix together apples, sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.  Toss to coat.  Put apple mixture into baking dish.  I used a smaller dish this time and the topping was a little too thick.  I would recommend using a larger casserole dish.
3. Mix flour, sugar, and butter together until crumbly.  Put mixture on top of apples.
4.  Bake for 1 hour.
5.  Eat and be happy!

Weekend in North Georgia

We spent this past weekend in Blue Ridge with Chris's parents.  We hit up the Apple Festival in Ellijay, took a little road trip to Hiawassee, which is a beautiful drive and Hiawassee even reminded me a lot of Lake Tahoe, and then wemwent to an extremely crowded pumpkin patch.  It was an awesome weekend!  We ate lots of yummy apple snacks, which was probably my main goal for the weekend, lol!

Mommy, Reed and Daddy at the Apple Festival.

Mike Mike and Kath with Reed.

Reed with my Mom and Jo.  They came over the Apple Festival and we ran into them while we were there!

Reed got to ride his first pony and he loved it!

He was cheesing the entire time!

A little mini photo shoot on Sunday before we headed to the pumpkin patch.

He headed directly for the trailer in the middle of the field.

And thought it was hilarious!

Got one good pic out of it.

Reed driving Mike Mike's truck!

"Could we do something other than pose for pictures?"

He's about had it.

"Okay, I'm done Mom!"  LOL!

Ready to go pick out at pumpkin!

Now, that's a big pumpkin!

For some reason he decided to give this particular pumpkin some love.

There were so many pumpkins at Burt's Pumpkin Patch.  We came home with a few, but we left the big ones there.
This last pic above certainly brings back memories of Reed's first trip to the pumpkin patch.  Check him out below.  He was so tiny!

Friday was a busy day!

This past Friday Reed and I attended his first live movie on ICE at Phillips Arena!  Our awesome friends, the Broggis, had extra tickets to Toy Story on Ice and they gave them to us, so sweet!  You might imagine that I was a little nervous about taking him to this kind of thing.  I had nightmares of us never sitting down and him never even seeing what was going on, on the ice.  Boy, was I wrong!  He was the perfect little angel.  He literally sat in my lap the entire show.  It was about an hour and a half with an intermission.  He clapped and just looked on in amazement.  I am sure his demeanor will probably be different in a few months, so I am glad that I took him now.  What a fun time we had!

All the gang!

Taking it all in.

What a great little boy I have!

After we got home from the show, we climbed our incredibly steep hill at the entrance to our neighborhood to watch the Walton High School Homecoming parade.  This is what Reed did the entire time.......at least I got my workout in for the day, lol!

Literally, the entire parade he did this.  Sat in the car of one of our neighbors.

He did look up to see the band go by!

Hilton Head 2010

We took Reed on his first beach vacation a week ago.  He absolutely loved the beach.  While it was a little cool, he didn't care at all.  He ran straight into the ocean at his full speed.  He didn't even care that he was shivering once he got out of the water.  He would scream and cry if we made him get out to warm up for a few minutes.  That silly boy!  He also loved the sand, wasn't at all bothered by it.  And, he only put it in his mouth once, which I was thoroughly impressed by.

It was such a nice week spent with our little family of three.  We were so lucky that Chris got to take a real week off with no call-ins with work, wahoo!  Reed definitely got used to seeing his Daddy everyday.  He actually snubbed me on Sunday after his nap because he wanted his Daddy to hold him and not me.  Chris said it means he likes him more, lol!  We are already looking forward to our next vacation....whenever that will be!
First day at the beach!

Playing in the water.

Trying to warm up.  The weather was perfect outside of the water, but babies who love the water really aren't good at staying away from it, lol!

Playing in the sand with Daddy.

The little pools left over when the tide went out were perfect for Reed.

Reed with Daddy's alligator.

Sweet pic of Reed and Daddy.

And, with Mommy.

My boys!

He loves when the waves came toward him.  He would scream every time.

Relaxing with Daddy.

He became slightly obsessed with hats while we were on vacation.  So, why not use a bucket as a hat?

And, have Daddy try it on as well.

Family Pic

We had a mini photo session our last night at HHI.  He basically looked down the entire time.  He couldn't take his eyes off the sand.

Such a cute pic of Reed and Chris!

Baby toes in the sand.

Me and Reed

Chris got this great picture of Reed!

He got over the photo session quickly and decided to play with a stick instead.

Giant stick!  He is obsessed with anything that can be used like a golf club.

A little sand never hurt anyone!
