Snowpocalypse 2014

As you may have heard, Atlanta received a little bit of snow on Tuesday starting around noon.  Even though it might seem like no big deal, it ended up being a nightmare for a lot of people.  Some people were stuck in their cars for nearly 24 hours and others opted for ditching their cars and walking miles in the cold to get home.  Ugh.  It really did come on so fast that there was no avoiding the craziness.  On my way back from picking Reed up from preschool at 12:30, roads were already getting slick and I witnessed some high school students have to push a car up a very small hill.  Thankfully, I had convinced Chris to work from home that day, so I didn't have to worry about him being in the car for so long.

Reed had a blast in the snow, he threw snowballs, made a snow angel and went sledding.  He loved it!  We took Carson out briefly, but she wasn't a huge fan.  Just a little too cold and wet for her!

Our self soother!

Sweet Carson sucking on her lip while asleep.  I am almost certain she has her tongue turned back as well.  Kind of wishing she took a paci, lol!

Carson - 6 Months!

Carson Blaire is now 6 months old.  Tell me, it can't be.  She is such a little ball of happiness!  Thankfully, she has been healthy and happy the last two months, phew.

Stats:
Weight: 16 lbs. 5 oz. (60th percentile)
Height: 26 inches

At 6 Months:
  • Carson is doing very well at sitting up.  She definitely isn't to the point where I can be more than a foot away from her when she is sitting.  She likes to throw herself backwards, but I am sure she will figure it all out soon enough.
  • She is also getting very excited about moving around when she is on her belly.  She kicks and flails her arms.  She can definitely get to the things that she wants by rolling and pivoting.
  • She absolutely loves to be naked.  She squeals with delight when we start taking her clothes off and then cries in agony when we put them back on.  Silly girl.
  • She has been sleeping very well the last few nights.  She did go through a period where she would go to sleep and then wake up an hour and a half later.  We would then struggle to get her back to sleep.
  • She is sucking on her tongue lately.  She rolls it back and pushes it up on the roof of her mouth and then sucks.  This is the girl who refuses a bottle, pacifier and doesn't even suck on her fingers.  Now, she has found her tongue and goodness knows, we can't take that away.  In doing this, she also purses her lips.  This reminds me of Miranda from Devil Wears Prada when she isn't pleased with something.  Thankfully, she's nothing but happiness and contentment when she does it.
  • She absolutely HATES to have her nose and mouth wiped.
  • Her top two teeth are coming through to add to the bottom two that she already has.  She will be so cute with the toothy grin.
  • She is eating lots of different foods.  We have tried butternut squash, green peas, sweet potatoes, prunes, pears, and a few others that I am sure I am forgetting.  She isn't a huge fan of rice cereal and she was pretty disgusted by her first taste of bananas, although she had them for a second time and didn't hate them quite as much.
  • She is wearing 9 months and 6-12 month clothes.  She seems to be progressing through clothing rather fast.  She is currently wearing size 3 diapers.
  • Her favorite toy is an attachment to her playmat that crinkles when she plays with it.  It's the little things. ; )

The Carlocks in GA!!

Our best buds, Teal, Laren and Tripp Carlock made the trek to Georgia two weeks before Christmas.  It was so awesome to see Teal and Laren, which we hadn't seen since last December in NYC, and Tripper-man, which I hadn't seen since October 2011.  We can't wait make a trip out to Texas soon to see them again!  Love you guys!!

If you can believe it, this is the only time I got my camera out.  We were having too much fun!

Carson's first taste of rice cereal!

We gave Carson her first solid food, rice cereal, when she was 4 1/2 months old.  At her 4 month appointment she had not gained as much weight as expected, although she had been sick with bronchitis two weeks prior, so the pediatrician said we were welcomed to start if we wanted to.  It wasn't very well received by Carson to begin with.  I definitely think that when I mixed it with formula she became fussier.  Now that we have moved on to veggies and fruit (bananas, which she despises), she has been gobbling up her food.

What is going on here?

I got this, Mom!

Bath time!

Reed and Carson took a bath together for the first time last night.  Reed is getting older and Carson is sitting up pretty well, so we thought we should probably take advantage of this time while we have it.  Reason #1 why bathing together won't last long, Reed said "she doesn't have a penis.  She just has to go potty on the toilet."  Too funny!

By the way, it is pretty much impossible to get two kids to look at the camera at the same time.

Carson also took her first sink bath at Nana and Granddaddy's on New Year's Day.  She had so much fun!

My Husband, the Comedian

Just to give you a glimpse into the hilarity that sometimes goes on around our house (and especially so we don't forget it), I thought I would share my new, infrequently used, nickname.

Rodman.

As in Dennis Rodman you ask? Yes, you are correct.

I forget the conversation we were having or how it came up, but here is Chris's explanation for my new nickname.

Chris:  I am going to start calling you Rodman.

Me: (Puzzled) Why Rodman?

Chris:  You're a really good teammate and you do good work, but you've got a little bit of an attitude problem.

True.  I can handle that.  Love you, babe!
