New Professional Photos!

We met with Karen Baker again the weekend before last to take some new pics of Reed. She is the same person who did his newborn pics. She does such a great job, I am sure we will use her for his 1 year pics! Check out a sneak by clicking on Karen Baker Photography below.

8 Months!

Another month has passed and we are another month closer to Reed turning 1. It makes me excited and sad at the same time to think that he will be walking and talking to us soon. I can't wait to hear all the hilarious things that he is sure to say, but I will miss his continuous babbling that he does now. He is such a sweet and loving little boy. We are loving every minute that we spend with him!

Stats:
Weight: 21 lbs.
Height: 29.5 in.

At 8 Months:

  • Reed is an expert crawler. He can get anywhere that he needs to get very quickly with his crab crawl. The books say that as long as the baby has the drive to move to another place, it doesn't matter how they do it.

  • He continues to pull up on anything and everything. He still makes me nervous but he really is good at getting himself up and then sitting back down.

  • He has officially said his first word and it was "dada". I wasn't too shocked. He doesn't yet know that Chris is Dada but I am sure that he will soon enough. I also read in a book at the sounds that make up "dada" are the easiest for baby so it's no wonder that most babies say it first. Not to take anything away from Chris though, lol! Reed loves his Daddy bunches!

  • Reed can stand himself up like any toddler would without using anything to pull himself up. He puts his hands on the ground, gets his feet planted under him and then he straightens up. Shocking! I can't believe he is doing this!

  • He loves giving kisses. They are usually very wet but we love them just the same. I sometimes get a little grossed out, haha, but I am learning to hold in my 'ewws' so that he doesn't think I don't love them. Because I do! We love them so much!

  • We are making progress on feeding him more solid foods. Our pediatrician wanted our goal to be table foods by 9 months and we are slowly but surely getting there. He has gotten so much better at eating his solid snacks and baby food that has more solid vegetables in it. He was gagging everytime something solid got near his throat, but he is learning to chew them up.

  • He still has 8 teeth, although he has started chewing on his fingers a lot lately. I can't feel any other teeth, but they are sure to make their appearance sometime soon.
  • He is having a little bit of difficulty going down for his naps during the day. I am thinking it may have something to do with separation anxiety, potentially. He usually wails when I leave the room. We are getting back into a better routine and hopefully he will be napping well again soon.

  • He has started making a gurgling sound. It is hilarious. He usually has to have his head tilted back to make this sound, lol!

  • He has started sticking out his tongue a lot lately. As Chris stuck his tongue out at Reed the other night, he stuck his out as well. It was so cute. He also sticks his tongue out with any wind that might hit his face as well as when we blow in his face. He looks like a dog when he does this.

8 Months Old!

"Fingers are yummy!"

Playing with Tadbit.

And, running away from Tadbit.

Checking out Mr. Elephant.

Showing Mr. Elephant how he can stand all by himself in the chair.

Reed loves to get very close to the camera. He is trying to get the strap.

And, tossing Mr. Elephant off the chair.

Hmm, what can I get into now?

This kid, this kid. He thought this was hilarious!

This makes me think Michael Jackson, lol!

He loves playing with the blinds.

Sticking his tongue out while I blow in his face. Too cute!

Big Boy!

He loves bouncing up and down and flapping his arms.

Just another cute pic.

The tickle bug was getting him.

Happy 8 Month Birthday Reed! We love you very much!

Welcome Liam McNeill Curtiss!

Congratulations to our good friends Rachel and Kevin who welcomed Baby Liam into the world just over two weeks ago! And yes, life has been so crazy for us that I haven't had a chance to give Liam a shout out on the blog. Reed and I actually went to meet Liam for the first time today! He is such an adorable and sweet baby! While Liam might have been one of the bigger babies in the hospital nursery, he was teeny tiny compared to Reed.

Sweet Baby Liam! I love, love his dark hair!

Liam wasn't so sure about Reed. Just kidding, he was just a little hungry.

Look at our giant kid, lol! Liam and Reed are going to be great friends!

Fun in the Square!

Marietta Square, that is! We drove out to downtown Marietta Sunday for some lunch and to hangout in the grass with Reed. We had yummy sandwiches from Sugar Cakes, we highly recommend it. We will have to try their breakfast sometime soon! We had a great time just lounging in the grass in the middle of the square. I am sure we will go back sometime soon!

He kind of looks Amish here, lol!

Not Amish!

Checking out the grass. He wasn't very sure about it at Easter but he seemed a little less apprehensive about it this time.

Reed's First Easter

Reed's first Easter was spent in Summerville with our families. We all had such a great time! We headed home on Saturday morning and had lunch with my parents and then headed to Chris' parents' house in the afternoon for egg dyeing and pizza.

Chris' favorite egg of the day.....he took several pictures of it, so it must've been. LOL!

A few of the kids working on their egg dyeing skills!

We opted to let Reed play in the floor instead of getting near the dye.

Sunday morning, Reed checked out his basket that the Easter Bunny dropped off. He was more interested in the paper in the basket, lol!

He loves to eat his board books.

We managed to have some time prior to church to snap a few pictures of our little cutie. This was his first to be near grass and he wasn't really sure about it, lol! I guess we need to spend more time outside now that it is warmer!

Reed's 'I'm not real sure about the grass' face!

We went to church at Horizon Baptist Fellowship to hear Roger McDonald preach his last sermon there. He is such a great man and he and his wife have been so wonderful to Chris and I over the years, we couldn't miss it. Reed also got to meet who I am sure will be one of his best buddies this summer, Dawson. Dawson is so adorable and they were oh so cute together.

Dawson and Reed....the best pic I could get of the two of them!

Dawson was crying a little bit and Reed decided to lean over and give him a little kiss (or bite) on the head! So sweet!

After church, we headed to Chris' grandparents' house for yummy food and an easter egg hunt. Reed wasn't too interested in the egg hunting, as you might imagine. After playing outside for a while, we headed to my parents' house for more playing and more eating. Overall, we had an excellent weekend with our families. I think it was a great first Easter for Reed.

He was considering taking a bite of his plastic egg.
