5 Months!

Are you serious? This is insane. Our little baby boy cannot, I repeat CANNOT, be 5 months old already. The last 5 months have gone by so quickly and we are continuing to enjoy every second with our little guy. He changes so much everyday. It is so amazing to watch him grow and learn new things!

5 Month Stats:
Height: 28 in. (95th Percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs. (75th Percentile)

At 5 Months:

  • Reed has four teeth and they are all on the bottom. This lends itself to a pretty funny story in the fact that I was completely expecting his next two teeth to arrive on top that I completely missed the arrival of two new teeth on the bottom. Chris had to point them out. Bad Mommy!

  • He sits up very, very well. He has even started straightening his back and sitting up like a big boy. He will be sitting without me sitting around him to catch him soon enough.

  • He has started a new phase of making the most pitiful faces at people that aren't me or Chris and then screaming bloody murder. Hopefully this phase will pass very quickly. I want him to be a social butterfly.

  • He is eating two meals of solid foods per day in addition to his four bottles. As of today, he has tried green beans, peas, sweet potatoes and carrots. He seems to like all of them, although he probably favors the orange vegetables the most. He gets one meal of baby cereal around lunchtime and then a vegetable for dinner. Next, we will start trying fruits and hope that he doesn't refuse to eat vegetables once he gets a taste of the sweet stuff.

  • Reed is once again sleeping through the night. Thank goodness! With Chris starting work, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it getting up every 20 to 40 minutes by myself. Thankfully, Reed knew when the time was right to start sleeping through the night again.

  • It is time to switch into 6-12 month or 9 month clothes. The boy is so long!

  • He is wearing a size 3 diaper.

  • Just yesterday he decided that he would blow his food all over me. He has gone from saying "boom, boom, boom" to actually blowing bubbles instead. I put him in his bed for a nap yesterday and the sheet was soaking wet after only a few minutes of him spitting everywhere. Silly boy!

  • In addition to the blowing, he is also crazy about grunting. It is hilarious! I assume we could probably call this his main form of communication at this point in time.

  • He has graduated from the bumbo to a booster seat. The booster seat is working so much better for him than the bumbo ever did. He is finally sitting up straight and enjoying his meals. With the bumbo, he would continuously lean to one side or the other, hardly ever sitting straight up.

  • He has fully embraced sleeping on his stomach. He loves it. Most nights he sleeps with his butt straight up in the air but others he sleeps flat on his stomach with his hands stuck underneath his tummy. I imagine that his little hands are probably asleep when he wakes up like this.

Enjoy Reed's 5 month pics below! He's getting so big!

5 Months Old!

He had his hands in his mouth for the majority of the mini-photoshoot. It was like it was the first time he knew he had hands.

He pretty much just attacked Tadbit the frog.

This was just before he leaned farther over and tried to pull the elephant to him.

Just doing a little bit of screaming (communicating, lol!).

He now has a permanent stream of drool running from his mouth.

An example of the bubbles I mentioned above.

He never fails to give me this pose every month.

Sweet Boy!

Getting a little bit tired.....

And now he's had enough!

A Few New Things From Reed

Reed has been able to sit propped up for quite some time. Just a few weeks ago he decided he could do it on his own but not for a very long time. Check out the videos of progression below. He is such a big boy! And, just today, he sat on his playmat for a good 5 or 10 minutes playing while I sat behind him ready to catch him if he fell (which he did many times!).

This past weekend Reed figured out how to put his lips together and make a sound at the same time. We have been trying to get him to imitate us saying "ba, ba, ba", so we're assuming this is his version of that. Listen closely, we think he's saying "boom, boom, boom", which are the lyrics from his favorite song by the Black Eyed Peas while he was in my belly.

We're Making It!

When Chris gets home this evening it will mark the end of his first week of work. Reed and I were extremely sad to see him go back but I knew it was inevitable. We are all surviving though! It hasn't been THAT bad. I mean, it's been bad, but not as bad as it could be. Chris seems to be enjoying his job, which makes it much easier on all of us. Reed and I are really looking forward to this weekend when we will get to spend 24/7 with Chris!

In other news, I have started a diet. Ugh, how I hate dieting, but I seriously need to shed these pregnancy pounds. I haven't seen the scale move in quite some time, so it was time to make some changes. As of a week and a half into the diet, I am down 4 pounds. The goal is to lose 20 pounds or more. Yes, I do need to lose this much weight! Yuck! I can do it though! Thankfully I have Reed to occupy my mind when hunger strikes!

We have also started searching for a home. This is a somewhat stressful process considering the fact that Chris and I are so picky and are also really bad at making big decisions, lol! Keep your fingers crossed that we are able to find the house for us and that we are able to pull the trigger when we find it!

And, what would a post be without a few cute pictures of Reed.....

Sweet Baby Reed Feet

Wouldn't we love to know what Reed is thinking?!?!

"Hello!"

"Yes, I really am that cute!"

Look at that sweet smile!

A great pic of my boys! (Sorry to cut you off Chris!)

Griffin the Grappler!

Yesterday morning Reed, Chris and I headed up to Roswell to watch our nephew Griffin wrestle. We had been hearing how good he was and had to check it out for ourselves. He did not disappoint. He did so well! He is so quick and strong that most of his matches didn't last the entire time alloted! He ended up 8-2 overall for the day and came home with 2nd place and 3rd place medals! We were so proud of him! Great job Griffin!

Griffin showing off his medals! Way to go!

Reed trying on Griffin's medals.

Griffin showing off his favorite move!

Griffin about to pin this kid! (Excuse the blurry referee!)

Griffin showing this kid who's boss! LOL!

Gavin, Griffin's brother, who decided that he needed a break from wrestling this weekend, playing his Nintendo DS while Reed looked on. Notice Reed's forehead! He was concentrating really hard, lol!

One of the many times yesterday that Griffin got to hold his arm up for the win!

Congratulations Griffin! We had a great time at your wrestling match yesterday!

Update (There are too many of these lately!)

Please excuse my absence from the blog this week! This is Chris' last week before starting work, so we have been busy doing stuff around the house, house hunting and just hanging out together. Reed and I are going to be very sad next week when Chris goes back to work, but it has been so great to have him home with us the past few weeks!

Since my last post, we have been on the move....

We headed home on Saturday to visit with my family and Chris' family for the weekend. We decided to attach Reed's new caterpillar to his car seat on the ride home and he loved it so much that he fell asleep like this.

So sweet!

In addition to getting to see our families, we also headed home to celebrate Gavin's birthday with him at his bowling party. I am a terrible bowler, Chris, Mike and Jared will vouch for this, but I had fun nonetheless. Check out some pictures below from the party.

The birthday boy bowling!

Happy Birthday Gav!

Griffin waiting on his turn to bowl.

Reed thoroughly enjoyed the party.

On Tuesday, we met our friend Kim and her daughter Natalie at the Georgia Aquarium. Reed just stared at all the fish. It was so cute! We ended up purchasing an annual pass, so I know that we will be making many trips back this year. I am sure Reed will love it even more as he gets older.

Reed checking out the penguins. He tried really hard to touch them through the glass.

Reed and Chris looking at the jellyfish.

This past week we also gave Reed his first solid food that wasn't bland rice cereal. We gave him green beans on Monday and he liked those oh so much better than the cereal. Then, we gave him sweet potatoes last night and he ate every bite that we put in his bowl. Sweet potatoes have to be his favorite food at this point, you know, other than milk!

"Give me more!"

He learned to smack his lips this week. He only does it every now and then, but he started it while Chris and I were eating breakfast in front of him. So cute!

And, here's Reed showing off his dramatic side!

"I'm so exhausted!"

But oh so precious!

Yummm, these are tasty!

This is exactly what he does everytime he gets a glimpse of his bare feet. They go straight to his mouth! So cute!

Happy New Year!

Yeah, yeah, I know, this is a little late! Better late than never, right? Our good friends Adam and Elizabeth invited us to their home in Suwanee to hang out on New Year's Eve. It wasn't the typical NYE that we have spent with them in the past but it was a lot of fun! We even got to take Reed along for the fun. We ate yummy food and had a great time playing rock band. I still haven't figured out the instruments yet but at least I was able to provide some vocals for our all girls band.

Reed relaxing a little bit with Chris.

Kevin and Rachel , who is expecting a new friend for Reed in April!

We are rock stars, enough said! LOL!

The boys got a little more into it than we did!

Very interested in the playing of Rock Band. He thinks he will be best at the drums!

Happy New Year from.....

Elizabeth and Adam

Jennifer and Daniel

And the three of us!
While last year was an incredibly exciting year for us, I know that it is going to just get better and better this year! We can't wait!

Let it snow!

While the snow coming down tonight in Atlanta isn't anything near what we experienced in Boston, we had to take Reed outside to check out his first snowfall ever.

I think Reed was a little overdressed for the snow, lol, but we needed a good excuse to put on his snowsuit! Too cute!

"Wow, I like this stuff!"

Santa drops off gifts for Reed

Santa dropped by my parents house on Christmas Eve with lots of goodies for Reed. Check out his awesome toys below. Of course he is probably a little small to play with most of them right now, but I am sure Santa was just thinking ahead and wanting Reed to have toys to play with for quite a while!

Riding his horse for the first time with Daddy's help.

Trying the horse out again! Yee-haw!
