3 Months Old

As of Sunday, Reed is three months old and we can't believe it! We are loving every minute of it and look forward to watching him learn new things.

3 Month Stats (Approximate values as we do not have a doctor's appointment this month.)
Weight: 14 lbs.
Height: 25 3/4 in.

At 3 Months:

  • Reed is an expert at rolling from his back to his stomach but only if he rolls to his left side.

  • He did attempt the stomach to back roll on one occasion during his 3rd month but has failed to try it again. I guess it's just easier if mom and dad do that part of the rollover work.

  • He often squeals with delight when we play with him. This absolutely makes our day to know that he is enjoying us playing with him as much as we do.

  • He loves, loves standing up. His little legs are getting so strong. We continue to tell him that he is too little to be so strong.

  • He is excellent during tummy time. He can hold his head up at a 90 degree angle for quite some time, but he really has to be in the mood for it. Otherwise, you can bet he is going to scream bloody murder before someone rolls him back over. The rolling from stomach to back by himself would come in handy here.

  • He has started teething! Seriously, seriously?!?!? His first tooth will probably emerge very soon. We cannot believe this, but some babies get teeth as early as 3 months and as late as a year or even later. Our little guy just wants to do it early.

  • He can hold himself up fairly well in a sitting position when we hold onto his hips. He is still a little ways away from sitting up on his own though.

  • He is a talker...especially with his Daddy, who he thinks is hilarious!

I think that covers the majority of the changes we have seen in Reed this past month. I am sure that I am forgetting something though, he never ceases to surprise us! Below are his 3 month rocking chair pics and a few other fun ones.

3 Months Old!

Reed was much more interested in kicking his feet and legs around than he was at sitting still. That's not typical of babies, right? LOL!

Just relaxing with his elephant friend.

"Look at my leg"

He actually got himself in this position. Too funny!

It's very hard to get him to sit still by himself.

He prefers to be wiggling!

Baby Feet

He's such a big boy! He actually wasn't having very much fun on his stomach, as I mentioned above, but he managed to put on a good face for a few pics.

This is my favorite pic from the day! Such a sweet boy!

Reed's 1st Thanksgiving!

We had such a great time celebrating Reed's first Thanksgiving with our families! We really do have so much to be thankful for each and every day! We are especially thankful for our wonderful little man Reed. We don't know what we would do without him! Here are a few pics from Reed's first Turkey Day! He had lots and lots of turkey, lol!

Reed Rolls Over Part II

This morning I was finally able to catch Reed rolling over from his back to his belly. It cracks us up how he raises his legs and then throws them to the side in order to get on his belly, which I must mention, he isn't very fond of. I roll him back to his back and he instantly tries to get back on his stomach. I don't guess he has put two and two together that he is the one that is causing his frustration. We are so proud of our little guy. Now, we must get to work on him getting back to his back!

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Boland!

This past weekend Chris and I went to Richmond, VA to attend the wedding of our good friends Ginny Gay and Will Boland who we met while Chris was in school. We are so very excited for the two of them and hope they have a long and happy life together! We love you guys! Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Will Boland!

We also got to see some of our other good friends from Boston that I hadn't seen since we moved back to Georgia. It was so great to see Erin and Michael Hales and Abbey and Luke Fuszard! The girls are planning to start a girls' trip in the near future which will be so wonderful! I can't wait!

On another note, we actually left Reed for the weekend, yikes! It was the first time that I had been away from him for more than a few hours. When my mom left with him on Friday night, I got a little nauseous thinking about how homesick I would be from him. Surprisingly, I did much better than expected. I guess I knew that he was in good hands and everytime we called to check in he was having such a great time. Needless to say, Chris and I were both extremely excited to see him when we picked him up last night! We missed our baby boy!! Thanks to my parents and Chris' parents for helping us out this weekend!! We love you all!

Just a little bit of Reed

Last Friday night Reed attended his very first football game. Chris, Reed and I went to the Chattooga Indians playoff game to watch our nephew Jared play. This was his last football game with the high school, so we knew we couldn't miss it. Unfortunately, the Indians lost but Jared played a great game. Reed really did enjoy the game. He was constantly checking everything out around him. He wasn't too thrilled by the noise at the very beginning but he soon found himself asleep. Here are a few pics of us with Reed at his first football game. Take a look at his too cute hat!

He was out of it for our picture together.

He decided to wake up to have his picture taken with his Daddy.

The other night, Reed went to sleep as I was trying to burp him and this is where he ended up. Please excuse the blurry picture, we didn't want to use the flash or turn on the lights to wake him!

As a birthday gift to me, I can only assume, Reed decided that he was going to rollover from his tummy to his side during tummy time. I was literally shocked that he did it and the fact that he has since decided he doesn't know how to rollover! While he no longer rolls over from his tummy to his back, he has mastered rolling over from his back to his stomach. There have been many nights after we put him in his crib that we hear him screaming because he is on his tummy and can't get comfortable. He did, however, manage to go to sleep after rolling over to his stomach the other night, but we are such nervous parents that we rolled him back over to his back.

Please excuse my extreme southern accent in this video, lol!

Reed absolutely loves his playmat. I can lay him there and he will entertain himself for quite some time. I love to see that he is now able to swat at the animals hanging from the top. I noticed earlier today that he actually got the monkey's foot in his mouth...it made him very happy!

Reed loves, loves his Daddy! He gets so excited when he comes home every evening, especially since Daddy makes him laugh so much. So sweet!

The Carlocks in Georgia

This past weekend our great friends Teal and Laren Carlock made the trek all the way from San Francisco to meet Reed. Reed was so excited to finally meet the Carlocks, as I am sure that he heard them talking a lot since we hung out together so much while in Boston. Their trip was short but we made the most of it! We even took them to Summerville to see where we grew up! It was oh so sad to see them go on Sunday, but we were thrilled that they had come so far to meet Reed and see us. We can't wait to see them again! Thanks again Carlocks!! We love you guys!

Reed in the mirror.....

You can tell that Reed likes what he sees in the video below! So cute!

Reed loves his hands!

Reed actually discovered his hands weeks ago, but he is finally starting to figure out how he can use his hands and his arms too. He absolutely loves to suck on his hands. He doesn't care if it's a finger, thumb or his whole fist. The other night Reed surprised us by taking hold of a small toy and putting it into his mouth. He actually managed to keep it in his mouth while he gnawed on it, so we were super impressed and had to record his achievement!

Playing Catch Up

Reed is growing bigger every day! So big that he is now wearing size 6 month pajamas. Is this normal? Should my 10 week old little baby be wearing size 6 month clothes? I guess this is what we get for having a baby in the 95th percentile for height. It is pretty cool that he is such a long boy, but it kind of stinks because the clothes that fit him in length are WAY to big in width. I am hoping he will grown into them soon enough. Since Reed is growing out of all of his clothes that are size 3 months, I decided that he had to wear his Red Sox onesie even though the Red Sox aren't currently playing. This will probably be the only time that he will wear this onesie, so we had to take a few pics marking the occasion.

Doesn't he look like a true Red Sox fan!!!

And, we had to complete his outfit with red "sox". We think the gesture he's making with his right hand was most definitely aimed at the NY Yankees, lol! No, we didn't position his hand this way and we didn't even notice it until we uploaded the photos!

I forgot to mention that Reed absolutely loves his hands and feet. He can sometimes manage to get his thumb in his mouth and he sucks on it like crazy, but then he forgets how he got it in there and pulls it away. It is entertaining to see him try to get his hands in just the right position in hi s mouth. He also discovered his feet a few weeks ago. I had him propped up on the couch next to Chris and he just watched his feet very closely as he moved them around. So sweet!

Reed recently received an AWESOME quilt made by his Kath, MawMaw, and Aunt Troyce. It is an adorable quilt with puppy dogs on it. It includes on it his full name, date of birth, weight and height. It's too cool! We love it! Reed loves it too....we do tummy time on it every day. Check it out below.

Below are some extremely cute photos of Reed, if I do say so myself!

Happy 30th Birthday Chris!

Today, Chris turns the big 3-0! It is so shocking that his 20s are over. I might be having more trouble with him turning 30 than he is. I think it is because I know that my 20s will be over before I know it.

Chris' 20s were a pretty big time for him. He started and graduated from Georgia Tech, moved to Florida to start work, got married to the most wonderful wife ever, got promoted, applied and got into HBS, moved to Boston, graduated from HBS, moved back to Georgia and had a beautiful baby boy. Those are just a few of the highlights of the last 10 years. I know that the next 10 are going to be even better for him! Reed and I can't wait to see what he will surprise us with next!

We love you Chris! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday to the best Daddy in the world!

Reed's 1st Halloween

For our little guy's first Halloween, we decided to dress him up as a skeleton. The main reason for doing this is due to Chris' resemblance to Johnny from The Karate Kid. Since Reed currently does not look much like his Dad, we decided that he should dress up like someone that Chris looks like, lol!

We spent Halloween weekend in Summerville so that Reed could trick or treat with our families. Reed snagged some pretty cool gifts as well as some candy for Mom and Dad. Check out our little skeleton below.
