6 Months!

My how time flies! We say it all the time and we've heard it from our parents for years, but it has never gone by so fast! The past six months have flown by. It seems like only yesterday that he made us a family of three. The days of him being our little baby are going by so fast. I guess he will always be our baby no matter how old he is!

6 Month Stats:
Height: 28 inches (90th Percentile)
Weight: 18 lbs. 13 oz. (70th Percentile, up from the 50th percentile at his 4 month appointment.)

At 6 Months:

  • Reed sits up like a champ. He is very confident in his ability to sit up, as am I. I feel comfortable leaving the room when he is sitting up alone, as long as there are a few pillows around him. He does get a little too excited playing with his toys sometimes and topples over.

  • He likes to eat, but he doesn't LOVE it yet. He has eaten a variety of fruits and vegetables and doesn't seem to favor or dislike one from the other. So far he's had rice cereal, butternut squash, zucchini, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, pears and bananas. He has also tried a Gerber biter biscuit which gets everything disgusting, but he loves being able to feed himself.

  • He has 8 teeth as of today. His eighth tooth came in today. As my Dad has said multiple times, "he's going to be eating steak this summer." Our pediatrician agreed. LOL! I am absolutely shocked that he already has so many teeth. Craziness!

  • He is starting to consider crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees and sometimes falls forward on his face trying to move, but he has yet to figure out the concept of using his hands to move. I am going to be so excited when he does figure out how to crawl, but I don't even want to imagine how much more exhausting keeping up with him is going to be.

  • He is extremely sturdy on his legs. I walked very early as an infant, so he may do the same.

  • He officially has his first cold. His nose has been running since the night before last. He is so pitiful at night when trying to go to sleep, because he has such a hard time breathing. Hopefully it will be gone very soon!

  • He has started to sleep at night from 8pm to 8 am. If we aren't at home, he gets a little off schedule, but he can get back to his regular schedule very quickly.

  • He has started to poke his bottom lip out. I know that we will end up seeing this face when he finally learns what "no" means. It is a little pitiful but oh so cute!

  • He grinds his teeth together. Ick! The pediatrician recommended today that we just ignore it and hopefully he will just stop eventually.

Below are a few pics from our mini 6 month photo session. He was not big on sitting back in the rocking chair so good picks were hard to come by. I've included a slideshow as well, so that we can check out his growth since he was one month old (thanks to Kath for suggesting). He has gotten cuter and cuter each month!

6 Months Old!

Sitting Tall

Relaxing a bit with Tadbit!

I love this little sly smile!

He continually tried to get off of the chair. I figured with naptime being on the horizon he wouldn't be so active, but I was so wrong.

And, he kept reaching for the camera.

But, he helped me get this sweet pic.

"Ah....

"Choo!" Just a little cold that will go away soon.

Sneezing makes me happy!

Hello runny nose : (

And, check out how much he's grown!

Just a few cute pictures to fill in for the lack of blogging!

That's all anyone really wants to see, right? I took a few pictures of Reed immediately following his nap the other day because he looked so darn cute. I mean, seriously, when is that not the case? I am not bias at all, lol!

Sweet Reed smile

Red cheeks (probably due to all the teething the kid is doing!)

"Whatcha talkin' bout Willis?"

Sitting tall and absolutely not checking out the TV.

Sweet Baby

"I'm gonna get you!"

Another Funny Face

Take a look at the video below to see Reed's expression as he bangs on his friends attached to his booster seat. We assume that he makes this face in anticipation and reaction to the noise it makes when he slams his hands down on his friends. Regardless of why he does it, it is too cute!

Enjoying the snow!

On Friday we saw the first somewhat significant snowfall in Atlanta this year. We ended up getting around 2 inches of snow, which is a lot in the south. It was absolutely beautiful with the wet snow covering all of the trees. Unfortunately, I didn't take the time to get out and take pictures of it on Friday and, not to our surprise, most of the snow was gone on Saturday due to rising temperatures.

We did get a chance to get Reed out in the snow and let him sit in it for a minute on Saturday. He had his bare hand in it for a few minutes and didn't seem bothered by the cold at all. However, he was over being in the snow after a very short period of time. Here are some of our snow pics below.

Notice the left hand in the snow!

He'd much rather be sitting up.

Daddy and Reed....somebody's getting sleepy.

I'm sure this won't be the last time we see this.....

First time on Daddy's shoulders! Reed loved it, as you can tell by the look on his face!

Reed especially loved the opportunity to get a handful of Daddy's hair!

Sweetest. Face. Ever.

I am not sure where this expression came from but I love it. It is my favorite expression from Reed so far. He is so adorable all the time but extra adorable when he makes this face.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Goodno!

Chris and I attended the wedding of Amanda Hook and Harrison Goodno on Saturday night in Atlanta. The bride and groom looked so extremely happy and Chris and I were so excited to help them celebrate. We wish the two of them all the happiness in the world. We also hope they are having fun in Paris (I don't think they need any hope!)!

Alpha Chi pic with Amanda (unfortunately I never got a pic of Harrison, sorry!)

Kevin and Rachel Curtiss, who are expecting a little friend for Reed in April!

Chris and I enjoying a night out! We missed Reed but it was nice to hang out with friends!

One of the few things I miss about Melbourne, FL....

Chips 'N Chocolate (chocolate covered potato chips)

Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate

We discovered this yummy concoction while living in Melbourne. We frequently visited the small candy shop just grab some of the chocolate covered potato chips. Fortunate for us, you can order them online. Yippee! This isn't the first time that we have paid the outrageous shipping price just to have some of our favorite candy ever!

I actually ordered them for Chris for Valentine's Day, but when they arrived on Saturday I couldn't stand to wait an entire week. Needless to say, we ate way too many chocolate covered potato chips this past weekend. It is probably a good thing that they aren't readily available in our area, lol!

If you want to want to order your own Chips 'N Chocolate, click here. I ordered both the milk chocolate and dark chocolate ones. While they are both excellent, the milk chocolate is probably the best.

Reed's New Friend and New Toys

On Sunday, Reed got the opportunity to meet his new friend Adrienne for the first time. Adrienne is the daughter of one of my sorority sisters, Kimberly. She was born almost exactly three weeks before Reed, even though Kimberly was due just a day before me. Can you hear the jealousy in my typing? LOL! Kimberly and her family are relocating from California to Florida and they made a short stop in Georgia. Reed and I were super excited to meet Alice, Kimberly and Adrienne for brunch. Adrienne is such a little cutie! Reed tried his best to get a hold of her!

Kimberly, Adrienne, Me and Reed (of course he found the tablecloth more interesting than having his picture taken!)

Adrienne and her Mommy!

We have recently upgraded some of Reed's things to accomodate his growing size. First, we retired the Bumbo and upgraded to a booster seat. He was quickly growing out of it and his little fat legs would sometimes were getting close to getting stuck, lol!

Thanks to MikeMike and Kath for his new goodies!!!

"I love my new seat!"

Reed especially loves the toys that attach to the top. He's got his Elvis lip going on here, lol!

We also got him out of his infant tub and got him the duck bathtub. He likes this bathtub so much better than the other tub. In this one he can actually sit up and enjoy his bath, where the other tub he was constantly slipping and sliding. This tub is going to make it much easier for me to bathe him alone when necessary.

The yellow duck!

I have a feeling that we will be getting the looks below for many years to come!

He looks like a little sneak here. I can picture him giving us this face in a few years after doing something he knows he shouldn't do.

This could go many different ways...."what did you say, huh, I can't believe you said that!" LOL!

Not Reed related but just in case you are interested, I have now completed three weeks of my diet and I have lost 8.5 pounds. Woohoo! I am slowly but surely making my way to my goal.
