Stats: (unknown, no scales or measuring tape in London with us! Oops, forgot that we already went to his 18 month checkup. Those numbers should suffice.)
Height: 35 in. (I don't believe it. I don't think they have a very good measuring system.)
Weight: 25 lbs.
At 18 Months:
- He is a little chatterbox. Sometimes he can talk for five minutes and I never understand a single word. And, sometimes I understand a good bit of what he is trying to say.
- He says "uh oh" and "drop" when he drops something.
- If he falls and it doesn't cause him to scream in agony, then he says "okay".
- He knows what no means but he often ignores us when we say it.
- Therefore, we've started using timeout. After his timeout is over, which he usually laughs his way through, he has to get up and say he is sorry for what he did. Just the other day, he said "saw-ee" (sorry) as soon as I put him in timeout. This kid might just outsmart us sooner rather than later.
- He continues to eat lots of fruits but rarely eats more than a couple of bites of vegatables. We've discovered that he loves ham since we moved to London though. It's great to find new things that he likes to eat.
- His favorite thing to watch right now is Toy Story. He asks to watch it as soon as he gets up in the morning and sometimes asks for it in his sleep. We think he is definitely partial to Buzz. He gets super excited everytime Buzz comes on the screen for the first time. He still loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as well.
- His favorite books continue to be of the Dr. Seuss collection, including Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat. He also loves others like Corduroy, Ferdinand and The Cow Loves Cookies.
- The other day he said "bown bear, bown bear, whadya see?". We were pretty much amazed.
- He's very independant. He often wants to get out of his stroller or stop being held. This has made life even more interesting here.
- He loves caps, his or anyone elses.
- He has developed this very shrill scream (think, nails on a chalkboard) when he doesn't get his way or he doesn't want to go to sleep at night. I really do think this kid has figured out that the regular crying stuff just doesn't work, so he utilizes this cry which is just too painful to the ears to ignore.
- He is a loving little boy. He gives the best hugs and kisses. There is nothing better than him asking you to pick him up and then he proceeds with a big hug!
- Our kid is what you might call a little bit skiddish. If he is even bumped by another child or person in public, he goes into hysterics. We are not sure what causes this, but we console him and tell him that everything is okay. Poor thing. He is so pitiful when it happens. Hopefully he will get over this soon.
