Happy Birthday Carson!!!

Our sweet baby girl is 1! This year has gone by so fast. The saying "the days are long but the years are short" certainly applies here.

Stats:
Weight: 20lbs. (25th-30th percentile)
Height: 29.25 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 17.75 inches (50th percentile)
  • Carson loves to eat....a few things. She absolutely adores blueberries, just like her brother. She also likes cheese, cheerios, yogurt (sometimes), grapes, cinnamon french toast sticks (totally not what I should be feeding her), ritz crackers (another great one), black beans (another brother fave) and hot dogs. She isn't the biggest fan of anything green, unless it comes from a pouch, which we are still giving her occasionally in order to ensure she gets her veggies. She tried a plain potato for the first time tonight and she wasn't a fan, which is also like her brother. Weird. She did like steak though, at least she liked the teeny tiny pieces we gave her.
  • We stopped formula/bottles cold turkey last night and switched to whole milk. She is doing pretty well with it, other than the fact that she doesn't like how cold it is. We never warmed the water for her formula but we usually didn't give her straight up cold water. It will take some getting used to. Thankfully, she has only ever had two bottles and she never was attached to them. She was always willing to take formula from a sippy cup. Phew!
  • We have certainly spoiled her by rocking her to sleep both for nap time and for bedtime. We are paying for it now, especially when we have a teenager over to babysit. They would certainly never be able to get her down. We have to consider doing a little sleep training soon. Yikes!
  • As I mentioned last month, she is very feisty. If you don't give her what she wants or you take something away from her, she screams like crazy. She has started plopping down on the ground and wailing. Oh dear. What are we in for? If her brother takes something from, she will go for him with a vengeance, usually trying to bite him. She is also very protective of her things, which she has learned well from her brother. If he gets close to a toy or in between her and her toy, she screams and pushes him away. Maybe we will have to start timeout sooner rather than later. Yikes! ; )
  • We have not been the best about reading to Carson. Parenting fail. However, she is certainly making up for it recently. She absolutely loves books. If she sees one of her favorites lying around, she grabs it and brings it to us to read. She loves Moo, Baa, La, La, La (another Reed favorite) as well as Pat the Bunny. She is even starting to learn the turn around and sit in our laps move, which I think is one of the cutest things ever. I love that she loves book so much!
  • Now that she can walk, she doesn't really want to be held. If she could talk well, she would be constantly saying "put me down, put me down". And, if we do put her down, she is most certainly going to walk in the opposite direction from where we want her to go. I guess we have to give it to her for being Miss Independent.
  • She is continuing to say dada, hi, mama, baba (maybe brother?), and I can only guess that ish today meant fish at the aquarium. She is such a chatterbox already. It just doesn't make much sense yet.
  • She literally put everything in her mouth. STILL. I know I mentioned this last month but it just won't quit. Ugh. We literally have to keep anything paper or plastic out of her reach, because she will most certainly try to eat it.
